It is required to find the Pythagorean triplet, whose smallest member is 24.
For any natural number m > 1, 2m 2 + m 2 −1 2 = m 2 +1 2  ,
2m ,( m 2 −1),( m 2 +1)   form a Pythagorean triplet.
The smallest number = 24,
  ∴ 2m = 24 ⇒ m = 12  
Find the other numbers,
⇒ m 2 −1= 12 2 − 1 = 144− 1 = 143 ⇒ m 2 +1= 12 2  + 1 = 144 + 1 = 145  
The Pythagorean triplets are therefore 24, 143, and 145, with 24 being the smallest number.
Therefore, option 2 is correct.
