Detailed Solution

According to the Urban Water Commission, the standard water supply per person per day in urban areas is about 135 litres of water.
This constitutes around seven buckets of water. There are great inequalities in the distribution and availability of water in India. The water supply per person per day in a slum area is around 20 litres, around one bucket of water.
In contrast, the water usage by a person in a day living in a luxury setting is 1600 litres, i.e. 80 buckets of water. It is the government's responsibility to make public facilities available to all the people, and the government should see equitable water distribution.
