Detailed Solution

The system of racial discrimination practised in South Africa is known as apartheid. It subscribes to the ideology
that the non-white or ‘black’ and ‘coloured’ people are inferior to those who are ‘white’. The white rulers imposed this discrimination system based on skin colour. Under white minority rule, the Europeans treated the South African natives poorly, who were primarily ‘black-skinned’. The discrimination not only meant that they were denied the right to vote, but it manifested in various ways in their daily lives, including disallowing the intermingling of white and non-white people. Segregation was strictly imposed, and the ‘black’ and ‘coloured’ people were treated as second-class citizens.
