Kharif crops are harvested in September and October. Important crops grown during this season include paddy, maize, jowar, bajra, tur (arhar), moong, urad, cotton, jute, peanut, and soyabean. Along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal, coastal areas of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra, particularly the Konkan coast, are some of the most prominent rice-growing areas.
