Detailed Solution

The central nervous system's grey matter, which includes synapses, capillaries, glial cells (astrocytes and oligodendrocytes), dendrites, and unmyelinated axons, is a key component. In contrast to white matter, which has few cell bodies and is primarily made up of long-range myelinated axons, grey matter contains a large number of cell bodies and very few myelinated axons. The whiteness of myelin is mostly responsible for the colour difference. Grey matter actually appears very pale grey in live tissue, with pinkish or yellowish undertones that are caused by capillary blood capillaries and neuronal cell bodies.
