What is the use of CFC?

Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were widely used in the 20th century because they are non-toxic, non-flammable, and very stable chemicals. Their main uses included:

1. Refrigerants: They were the primary cooling agents used in refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning (AC) systems for homes and cars. Freon, a common brand name for a CFC, became a household name.
2. Aerosol Propellants: CFCs were used to pressurize cans and propel the contents out in a fine mist. This included products like deodorant, hairspray, insect repellent, and spray paint.
3. Foam Blowing Agents: They were used in the production of foam insulation materials, such as styrofoam and polyurethane foam, used for packaging and in building construction.
4. Solvents and Cleaning Agents: Due to their ability to dissolve grease and oil without damaging sensitive components, CFCs were excellent for cleaning electronics, such as circuit boards, and for degreasing metals.
