Detailed Solution

Kerosene, paraffin, and lamp oil are flammable hydrocarbon liquids that come from petroleum. It is extensively used as fuel in both houses and aeroplanes. Abraham Gesner, a Canadian geologist and inventor, initially filed its name as a trademark in 1854; later, it became a generic trademark. Its name is derived from the Greek word keros, which meaning "wax." It can occasionally be found written as kerosene in the scientific and industrial realms. While kerosene is more usually used in Argentina, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, and the United States, the term paraffin is used in Chile, eastern Africa, South Africa, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
