Detailed Solution

Vellum is a parchment made from the skin of animals.
In the early times, Printing was very expensive. This was mainly because of the new method that the Chinese followed, hand block printing. Moreover, Western countries were also trying to develop Printing as a means of a great profession. As more and more people started to become educated, the need for more books also started to increase. This resulted in the shooting up of the demand for Printing. During those times, Vellum was also used for the rich upper-class people. This was mainly for the families of various aristocrats, Kings, and Princes. Vellum was derived from animal skin, one of the costliest and scented skin types on which Printing was done.
