Detailed Solution

Imperialism led to the fall of European powers.
In 1914, nationalism and imperialism worked together to destroy Europe. However, in the meantime, several nations that European powers had colonised in the nineteenth century started to rebel against imperial dominance. The anti-imperial movements that emerged throughout the world were nationalist because they all fought to establish independent nation-states. Moreover, these countries were motivated by a shared national identity forged in opposition to imperialism. However, European ideas of nationalism were not imitated, as people worldwide created their distinctive brands of nationalism. But the notion that civilisations should be divided into nation-states gradually gained acceptance as a universal and natural principle.
