Detailed Solution

Kharaj was known as a tax on cultivation during the Delhi Sultanate.
Land revenue served as the Sultanate's primary source of state income because agriculture represented most of the state's income at the time. As a result, three different kinds of taxes were levied on the people of the Sultanate. These include the tax on agriculture or cultivation, known as kharaj, which amounted to around 50% of the produce by peasants. Meanwhile, the other types of tariffs collected were a tax on cattle and another tax on dwellings or houses.
