Detailed Solution

The Indian cotton weavers faced many problems in the nineteenth century. First, the Indian cotton weavers' export market for their products failed. Then, due to a decline in demand, the local market started to shrink. Then, due to a decline in raw cotton production, prices rose. By the 1850s, reports from the majority of India's weaving regions witnessed scenes of decline and devastation. The amount of cotton felt inadequate overall. India's weavers were forced to pay high prices for raw cotton due to a lack of supplies. Hence, weaving could not be profitable in this case.
