The process of protein synthesis is catalyzed by ribosomal RNA (23 or 28S rRNA). Messenger RNA provides the genetic blueprint for the protein. Transfer RNA is responsible for translating the triplet code into a specific amino acid. Messenger RNA molecules are modified prior to protein synthesis by small nuclear RNA.
