The Constitution ensures the protection of the dignity of an individual. Article 21 of the Indian Constitution declares, "No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to a procedure established by law." According to this right, a person cannot be killed unless the court has issued a death sentence and so on. This right implies that an individual can't be detained or arrested by the government or police unless there is proper legal justification. Even if there is legal justification, official procedures are to be followed and executed correctly. A warrant is deemed necessary before making an arrest. The Right to Protection of Life and Personal Liberty (Article 21) comes under the Right to Freedom (Article 19-22). Despite being a Fundamental Right (Part III), it is not only for the citizens of India; it applies to foreign nationals.
