Autocratic regimes were established in 1815 in Europe. Britain, Russia, Austria, and Prussia defeated Napoleon and set up a treaty at Vienna under the Duke of Austria-Metternich in 1815, to discuss various concepts. The main intention of this defeat and the treaty was to restore the monarchies and to form a new conservative order in Europe. The new regimes set up after 1815 in Europe were autocratic—they did not tolerate criticism and curbed voices against the Monarchy. The government imposed censorship laws on literature, journalism, music, and main streams.
