Detailed Solution

Official language status has been given to Hindi by the Constitution of India.
The Hindi script in the Devanagari script has been designated the country's "official language" by the Indian Constitution. The Indian Constitution grants Hindi the status of official language rather than national language. The Official Language of the Union is Hindi in Devanagari script, according to Article 343(1) of the Constitution. Article 343(2) also provided for using English in official Union work for 15 years from the day the Constitution was adopted (i.e., till January 25th, 1965).
