The Constituent Assembly decided on some basic principles, prepared a draft Constitution, and discussed this draft before forming the Indian Constitution.
The Assembly operated in a systematic, transparent, and unanimous fashion. First, some fundamental ideas were chosen or approved. Following that, a draft Constitution was created by a committee under the direction of Dr B R Ambedkar. The Draft Constitution was thoroughly discussed clause by clause throughout several sessions. Over 2000 amendments were taken into account. Over three years, the members discussed for 114 days.
