Detailed Solution

A federal type of government is there in India. India had become a sovereign country following a brutal and deadly partition. Several princely states joined the nation soon after it attained independence. India was proclaimed to be a Union of States under the Constitution. The Indian Union is built on federalist ideals while not using the word "federation" in its name. The Union Government, or what we now refer to as the Central Government, was to represent both the Union of India and the State governments, according to the original provisions of the Constitution. Later, Panchayats and Municipalities were established as the third level of federalism. These many tiers have independent jurisdiction, just like in any federation.
