Fascist movements are hostile to democracy. Most of the political movements that emerged post World War I era were Fascist movements.
Such movements began and became successful in many European countries- Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, and others.
The most brutal and dangerous fascist movements took place in Italy and Germany. Germany saw the rise of Nazism under the leadership of despotic ruler Adolf Hitler. Democracy died with the rise of Hitler. He got all his opponents either killed or behind bars. Perhaps the most horrifying part of this regime was the hatred towards Jews and other non-Aryan races who got stuffed in the concentration camps or executed mercilessly.
