Detailed Solution

Arthropods use tracheal respiration.

Arthropods, including insects, spiders, and crustaceans, breathe through a network of air tubes known as tracheae.

The tracheae carry air directly to cells, allowing gas exchange between the air and the cells.

Tracheal respiration is the name given to this type of breathing. Arthropods, unlike vertebrates, lack lungs.

Although some arthropods can exchange gases via their cuticle (exoskeleton), this is not their primary mode of respiration.

Some arthropods, such as spiders, have specialised respiratory structures known as book lungs, which have a large surface area for gas exchange.
