Gandhi-Irwin Pact urged Gandhiji to participate in Round Table Conference in London.
When the Civil Disobedience movement started to collapse, peaceful Satyagrahis were attacked. Moreover, children and women were beaten, and more than one lakh people were arrested, including Abdul Gaffer Khan and Mahatma Gandhi. So the latter decided to call off the movement and consequently entered into a pact with Irwin on 5th March 1931 to release the political prisoners. Thus, Gandhiji chose to participate in the Round Table Conference in London due to the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. But eventually, in December 1931, the negotiations broke down, and Gandhi had to return from the conference disappointed.
