Detailed Solution

Buddha's real name was Siddhartha. He was born in the Sakya gana as a kshatriya in 560 BCE. As a young man, he understood desire is the root of all pain. He spent years travelling from place to place in search of truth. He engaged in several religious talks and practised meditation frequently. Finally, in the Bihar city of Bodh Gaya, he gained enlightenment. At Sarnath, not far from Varanasi, he delivered his first sermon. He provided his disciples with several guidelines. He lived an ascetic life, travelling the world and espousing his ideals. He used Pali to give sermons.
