Detailed Solution

Kadamai refers to land revenue. There are more than 400 terms for various types of taxes in the inscriptions left by the Cholas, who ruled in Tamil Nadu. Vetti, which is collected in the form of forced labour rather than cash, and kadamai, or land revenue, are the two most frequently mentioned taxes. In addition, there were fees for thatching a home, using a ladder to scale a palm tree, inheriting family property, etc. These funds were used for the establishment of the king and the building of forts and temples. They were also employed in the conduct of wars, which were anticipated to result in the capture of wealth through plunder, the opening of trade routes, and access to land.
