Detailed Solution

Simon’s commission was- parliament of seven members; it was presided over by Sir John Simon; when the Simon Commission arrived in India it was greeted with the slogan ‘Go back, Simon’. In order to find a way to constitutional reform in Britain's biggest and most significant colony, the commission travelled to British India in 1928. "Go back Simon" was chanted at the Simon Commission when it came in 1928. All parties, such as the Muslim League and the Congress, actively participated in the demonstrations. Viceroy Lord Irwin made an ambiguous offer of India having "dominion status" in the future and convened a Round Table Conference to develop a new constitution in a bid to garner their support in October 1929. The Congress leaders were unimpressed by this.
