Detailed Solution

"The convention" in the context of the newly elected assembly of France. During the most crucial period of the French Revolution, from September 20, 1792, to October 26, 1795, the National Convention, also known as the French Convention Nationale, ruled France. The National Convention was chosen to write a new constitution for the nation after the monarchy was overthrown in August 1792. The Convention had 749 deputies, including many businesspeople, craftspeople, and professionals. One of its first acts was the official abolition of the monarchy on September 21 and the founding of the republic.
