Detailed Solution

Cotton was the first symbol of the new era of industrialisation.
In the first phase of industrialization, cotton was the leading sector. A wave of inventions in the 18th century led to the flourishing production of cotton. The carding, twisting, spinning, and rolling production process became much more efficient with introduction of new technologies. Inventions like flying shuttle, spinning jenny, and steam power accelerated the production process and improved the product. So cotton mills came up where all the different stages of production were concentrated in one place, and cotton production started on an industrial scale. Thus cotton is known as the first symbol of the new era of industrialization.
