Detailed Solution

The session of the Estates General was the immediate cause of the French Revolution. The extravagance of Louis XIV led to a grave economic crisis in the country. As a result, the Assembly put forward a suggestion to tax the rich people to save the country from financial bankruptcy. The rich widely opposed this, so a session of the Estates General was called on. The members of the Third Estates dominated this, and they put forward more and more demands. The king, as a consequence, surrendered to their demands, and this exploded into a revolution.
