The major cause of the Russian revolution is economically widespread inflation and food shortages in Russia. However, Russia's tragic involvement in World War I was the direct cause of the February Revolution, the first stage of the 1917 Russian Revolution. Imperial Russia could not have competed militarily with industrialised Germany, and the number of Russian losses was higher than any other country in prior conflict. The results of the Russian Revolution are as follows: Politically, it ended the tsar's autocracy and established a working-class state in Russia. In terms of the economy, it drastically altered Russia's economic structure.
