Detailed Solution

Economic causes were the most important cause of the French Revolution
A large number of social, political, and economic causes resulted in the French Revolution. The division of French society into classes and the wide range of discrimination faced by the common people drove them to revolt against despotic rule. The 18th-century French society was caught in an economic famine with an unfair distribution of taxes between the high class and the poor working class, poor administration in tax collection, huge debts and interest, and a sharp decline in trade and business.
Moreover, the people were also fed up with the arbitrary rules of the French rulers and the centralisation of powers in the hands of the kings. Discontent and dissatisfaction among the people led them to revolt against the administration.
