Father Gapon was the person who led the procession of workers to the Winter Palace.
The procession, upon reaching the palace, was severely attacked by the police. Along with the police, there were Cossacks too. This incident is famously known as the ‘Bloody Sunday’ in history. On this day, about one hundred workers lost their lives to the sudden attack planned by the police and Cossacks, and left no less than three hundred worker participants of the procession wounded. This became the breakout point of the unprecedented violence. The incident resulted in a series of events which are listed as the 1905 Revolution.
