Detailed Solution

41 was the percentage of poverty in Sub-saharan Africa in 2013. According to the World Bank, the percentage of people in developing countries who live in extreme economic poverty, or on less than $1 per day, has decreased from 28 per cent in 1990 to 21 per cent in 2001. Global poverty has significantly reduced, but there are still significant regional differences. Rapid economic development and growth have led to a substantial decrease in poverty in South Asian and Chinese nations. The decline has not been as sharp in South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan), which has only slightly decreased from 475 million in 1981 to 428 million in 2001. The percentage of people living in poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa increased from 41% in 1981 to 46% in 2001. The level of poverty in Latin America has not changed. In some former socialist nations, including Russia, where it was previously nonexistent, poverty has returned.
