Detailed Solution

600 was the proportion of the representatives of the  Third Estates in the resplendent hall in Versailles.
The Estates-General was a group made up of members from the three estates. As France was on the verge of bankruptcy, King Louis XVI summoned the Estates-General in May 1789 to increase taxes on the third estate to address the fiscal deficit. The first and second estates each sent 300 delegates, who sat in rows facing each other on two sides, while the 600 members of the third estate were forced to stand in the rear. The third estate was represented by its wealthier and more educated members. The meeting was closed to peasants, artisans, and women. Their grievances and demands, however, were detailed in 40,000 letters brought with them by the representatives.
