In the United States of America, the difference between blacks and whites rose to a situation that became a social division as the situation of blacks deteriorated with time in the 1960s. They were poorer than the whites. The white population was rich compared to the blacks, and the African-Americans (the black population) were struck with poverty and a lack of resources, to begin with. The privileges of good education, better healthcare opportunities, and better living conditions only belonged to the white population. The black population felt devoid of these as if being a coloured-skinned man was the cause of all of their problems. Hence, the social difference between the two groups of people became a social division.
