Detailed Solution

Most of the Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka are Buddhists.
In Sri Lanka, the majority of Sinhala speakers are Buddhists, whereas the majority of Tamils are Hindus or Muslims. Christians make up roughly 7% of the population, and they are both Tamil and Sinhala. Sinhala is the first language of the Sinhalese, who make up more than 80% of Sri Lanka's population. The Tamils, on the other hand, account for more than 20% of Sri Lanka's population. In 1948, the democratically elected government implemented a series of majoritarian policies to establish Sinhala dominance. It quickly devolved into a civil war, forcing thousands of people to flee the country.
