Detailed Solution

Rowlatt Act was the act through which the government got enormous powers to repress political activities and allowed the detention of political prisoners without trial for two years.
Rowlatt Act was a repressive act that was passed in the year 1919. According to this act, the government was granted enormous powers to repress political activities against British Rule. It also embodied the power of detention of any political prisoner for two years without trial. It was directed against the developments in India in the context of the freedom movement. The Imperial Legislative council passed it without any discussion with Indian members. The Indian members of the council opposed it.
