Detailed Solution

Germany and France's personifications as female figures were called Germania and Marianne.
Artists used female figures in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to personify a nation, making them an allegory of the country. She was given the name Marianne in France, emphasising the concept of a nation of the people. That of Liberty and the Republic modelled her personality. Sculptures of Marianne were placed in public spaces to raise awareness of and encourage identification with the national emblem of togetherness. Similarly, Germania evolved into an allegory for the German people. Germania is depicted with an oak leaf crown on her head. She is standing in front of a scene with the national flag's tricolour background illuminated by sunshine.
