Detailed Solution

The channels which supplied water to the city for the baths, fountains and toilets were known as aqueducts.
Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Rome have also given pieces of evidence of the massive aqueducts. They were watercourses constructed to supply the water from the source of origin to the distribution point. The word aqueduct originates from the Latin word ‘aquae ductus', meaning a water source that is guided or led. Ancient India is believed to have some of the earliest aqueducts. The evidence of the presence of aqueducts is found in present-day Hampi, Karnataka.
