Detailed Solution

In England, chapbooks were cheap books. A sort of printed street literature known as a chapbook typically consisted of small, paper-covered booklets that were folded into books with eight, twelve, sixteen, or twenty-four pages. Chapbooks were popular in the sixteenth century when printed books became cheaper. These books had pictures in them and were read aloud to listeners. Chapbooks have been used to publish a wide range of literary works, including folktales, ballads, nursery rhymes, pamphlets, and political and religious tracts. The name "chapbooks" was first used to describe this genre of writing in the nineteenth century. These books were sold by chapmen, who were either licenced or permitted.
