Detailed Solution

By introducing Dhamma, Ashoka wanted to solve problems like sacrificing animals, ill-treating servants, and quarrels between families and neighbours.
Dhamma was not a religion but a course of life that Ashoka introduced after the Kalinga war. To solve the challenges in his kingdom, he came up with Dhamma. In Dhamma, people did not worship any gods. Animals were not sacrificed. Through Dhamma, Ashoka wanted to solve all the problems, like the fight for power between people, and ill-treating servants, because he considered that his obligation towards his subjects was like that of a father to his son. So he got his messages inscribed on the rocks and pillars, later known as rock and pillar edicts. He appointed Dhamma Mahamatta to spread his message of Dhamma.
