It is given that the sum of the ages of the father and his son is 64 years and twice the difference in their ages is the same as the sum of their ages.
Let’s consider that father’s age is x   and the son’s age is y.   According to the question, we have,
  x+y=64                    (1) and  
2 xy =64 xy=32                 (2)  
Adding equation (1) and equation (2), we get,
2x=96 x=48  
Therefore the father’s age is 48 years.
