Detailed Solution

Take ABCD as a parallelogram, where AB=15cm, AD=8cm and AE=4cm.
Also, AB=CD and AD=BC because opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal.
Question ImageTo find the distance between the shorter sides that is the length of CF, we will use the formula of area of a parallelogram which is equal to base(b)×height(h) .
Now, using AE=4cm and DC=15cm
Area of parallelogram= b×h
=15cm×4cm
=60cm
In the same parallelogram ABCD
Area of parallelogram= AD×CF
60cm=8cm×CF
CF= 60cm 8cm
CF=7.5cm
Therefore, the distance between the shorter sides is 7.5cm.
Hence, option 3 is correct.
