We have to find the mean of 25 numbers if the mean of 15 of them is 18 and the mean of the remaining numbers is 13.
We know that,
Mean= Sum of all observations  Number of observations
It is known to us that the mean of 15 numbers is 18 and that of 10 numbers is 13.
Mathematically,
Sum of 15 numbers 15 =18 Sum of 15 numbers=18×15 =270 Sum of 10 numbers 10 =13 Sum of 10 numbers=13×10 =130
Now, add both the sums,
270+130=400 Calculating the mean of 25 numbers,
400 25 =16 Hence, the mean of 25 numbers is 16.
