The nature of the image formed will be magnified, virtual and erect when an object is placed at 4 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length 12 cm.
Given,
u= -4 cm
f= -12 cm    (Negative: as the mirror is concave)
By using the mirror formula, we can calculate the position of the image by substituting the values of u and f which are -4 and -12 respectively.
1f=1v+1u
 1(-12)=1v+1-4
 1v=14-112
 1v=3-112
 1v=16
 v=+6 cm
+ve sign indicates that the image will be formed behind the mirror, so it will be a virtual image.
Now, substituting the values of u and v in the magnification formula we get,
m=-vu
 m=-6-4
 m=+1.5   (Magnified)
So, the image formed will be virtual, erect and magnified.
