Detailed Solution

We have to find the weight of the student who left, if the mean weight of a class of 36 students is 41 kg and if one of the students leaves the class then the mean decreases by 200 g.
We know that,
Mean= Sum of all observations  Number of observations
We know that the mean is 41kg.
Now, calculate the sum of 36 students,
Sum of weight 36 =41 Sum of weight=41×36 =1476
According to the question,
New mean =41 – 0.2 = 40.8 kg
Calculating the sum of the weight of 35 students,
Sum of all weights 35 =40.8 Sum of all weights=40.8×35 =1428 Weight of the student who leaves = 1476 – 1428 = 48kg.
Hence, the weight of the student who left is 48kg.
Therefore, option 1 is correct.
