Concept- Sodium hydroxide is basic in nature. It reacts with metal chlorides and forms metal hydroxides as products. The resulting metal hydroxide can be detected in the form of a precipitate. By adding an excess amount of sodium hydroxide, the resulting precipitate of metal hydroxide dissolves.
Now, when dilute sodium hydroxide reacts with zinc chloride and forms zinc hydroxide in the form of a white precipitate.
The chemical reaction that takes place when dil. NaOH solution is added to Question Image solution.
