Detailed Solution

When a moving bus applies brakes to a stop, you fall in the forward direction due to inertia of motion. The tendency of the body to continue in its state of motion even when some unbalanced force is applied on it is called the inertia of motion.
When the driver of a bus, running at a high speed, suddenly applies brakes, the passengers experience a forward push. Here, initially, the bus as well as passengers are in a state of motion. When the bus suddenly stops, the lower part of the body of a passenger comes to rest. But the upper part of his body tends to maintain his state of motion due to inertia of motion and consequently experiences a forward push.
