We know the resistance of a metallic wire is directly proportional to the length and inversely proportional to the area of the cross-section. R αlA . Here the area of the cross-section of the wire is more. Hence the resistance will decrease. Using Ohm’s law, resistance is inversely proportional to the current flowing in the wire. Therefore, when the resistance decreases, the current increases.
