When a polynomial p (x) is divided by a polynomial g (x), and the quotient is zero, the degree of p (x) is more as compared to the degree of g (x).
We know that the degree of the dividend is equal to the sum of the degree of divisor and quotient.
The polynomial p x   on division with polynomial g x   results 0, which means the degree of the polynomial p x   is less than the g x ,   as if the degree of dividend is less than divisor than quotient is 0 and remainder is equal to the dividend.
