'g' represents the acceleration due to gravity on the earth. It is caused due to the gravitational force exerted by the earth and is directed towards the center of the earth. 

The value of 'g' can be found as:

g=GMR2where M is the mass of the earth and R is the distance from the center of the earth.

For all the objects near the earth, the distance from the center of the earth will be more or less the same and equal to the radius of the earth. However, when a space shuttle starts going above the surface of the earth, its distance from the center increases. Hence the value of g will keep on decreasing.
