Detailed Solution

The All India Muslim League was formed at Dacca in 1906. It was formed by a group of Muslim landlords and nawabs. They were in favour of the partition of Bengal and desired separate electorates for Muslims. This demand was conceded by the British government in 1909. Later, some seats were reserved for Muslims in the council, elected only by Muslim voters. After the split of Congress in 1907, the Muslim League signed the historic Lucknow Pact with the Indian National Congress and decided to work together for a representative government in the country. Jinnah was crucial in the formation of the Lucknow Pact. After 1934, he reorganised the Muslim League.
