Estrogen is produced by the ovaries to stimulate ovulation. Therefore, level of estrogen in the blood stream decreases after ovaries are removed. Estrogen also plays a key role throughout the body. Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland after pregnancy to stimulate the mammary gland to produce milk.
Gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) is another hormone produced by the hypothalamus of the brain. The functions of this hormone is to regulate the production of the luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone that helps in gametogenesis in both male and female.
